Re: UK: Man Attacked by Dogs
I think more and more people are starting to wake up and realize that the constant injuries and deaths caused by this specific type of dog is not just coincidence or irresponsible owners. Of course, there’s still the wannabe gangsters who think having a dog that’s buffer than them is some sort of status symbol, and the emotionally damaged weirdos with a savior complex who truly believe they have the one pitbull on earth that’s incapable of violence. But most sane people are able to deduce that a dog bred for no other purpose than killing, will often end up doing exactly that. This is why I HATE shelters that lie about the breed, down play the risk, etc. So many families who lose kids to these monsters genuinely didn’t know better. |

Re: UK: Man Attacked by Dogs
No one turned them into monsters; they were literally created for violence: “Until the mid-19th century the since extinct Old English Terriers and Old English Bulldogs were bred together to produce a dog that combined the gameness of the terrier with the strength and athleticism of the bulldog. In the United Kingdom, bull and terriers were used in bloodsports such as bull baiting and bear baiting. These bloodsports were banned in 1835 when Britain introduced animal welfare laws. Since dog fighting is cheaper to organize and far easier to conceal from the law than bull or bear baits, bloodsport proponents turned to pitting their dogs against each other instead. Dog fighting was used as both a bloodsport (often involving gambling) and a way to continue to test the quality of their stock.” |

I'd rather live in a country without guns than one with trigger-happy fucktards.

Re: UK: Man Attacked by Dogs
WIKIPEDIA FACT CHECK: There have actually been 20 mass shootings in UK since 1996... not counting the Northern Ireland conflicts which would raise the total dramatically. List of mass shootings in the United Kingdom BTW, total US mass shootings to date in 2023 = 24 List of mass shootings in the United States FWIW, the USA is nearly six times larger in population than the UK. The US has millions of firearms while the UK has several tens of thousands. The greatest volume of firearms are in the hands of military, police, and law abiding citizens. There are six primary sources for US shooting statistics. The numbers deviate wildly depending on the source. No source can agree on the definition of 'mass shooting' although Wikipedia uses a definition of four or more victims. Law enforcement studies tend to calculate lower volume, academia tends to be slightly higher, and mass media sources tend to grossly deviate higher figures than the other two combined. Several news organizations even classify a "husband & wife suicide pact" with a firearm as a mass shooting. No doubt that the chances of randomly being shot in the UK are substantially less than the US, however your chances of being murdered in the UK are actually slightly higher than US.* Draw your own conclusions... |

Re: UK: Man Attacked by Dogs
Dude, this shit happens in America ALL the time, and there’s rarely ever a person with a gun there to save the day. Even in Texas! Once these things go into kill mode, you’re basically doomed. Sorry to say, guns are not the easy answer here. Eliminating the breed is. |

Re: UK: Man Attacked by Dogs
Shaking my head at the gentleman tapping the pit bull with the stick… Well heres a little story. There was a pitbull attacking the postman where i live, so my neighbor comes out with a shovel, took a swing right on its head and literally snaps it in two pieces. Long story short, guess what effect that had? NOT A GD THING. |
