Philippines: Responding emergency fire truck heads on collision with two motocycle rider.

A fire engine hit two motorcycle riders in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Kalsel), Thursday (31/3/2022).

In that incident, a driver with the initials MH (40) died after undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The other motorcyclist survived, although he was injured.

The head of the Traffic Accident Unit of the Banjarmasin Police, Ipda Suparwoto, said the fire truck driver with the initials WAS (22) was officially arrested for negligence.

Suparwoto explained that the accident began when the fire engine driven by WAS was traveling at high speed from the Old Market after receiving information about a fire that occurred on Jalan Pramuka.

While crossing Jalan Veteran, WAS met a convoy of other fire engines .

"On Veterans Street, suddenly the car in front of the car driven by WAS suddenly stopped.

WAS also turned the car to the right," he explained.

While trying to swerve to the right to avoid a collision with other fire engines, suddenly a motorcycle driven by MH appears.

Seeing this, WAS, who was no longer able to control his car, immediately hit the victim.

About 50 meters later, WAS hit another motorcyclist again.

That whole response team looked pretty sketch. The pile o’ firemen in the truck looked like they were holding on for dear life and the camera vehicle looked like it was in a street race right up to the point of impact(s).

The drivers of those trucks obviously don’t fucking get it that as first responders if they can’t make it to the call safely and without incident, then they’re absolutely no good to anyone.
