Footage has captured the last moments of a terrified New Zealand man making heart shapes with his hands and pleading with police before he was shot dead in the US.

Christchurch local Christian Glass, 22, was shot five times after calling police for help to move his car that had become stuck in bush in Denver, Colorado, on June 11.
Officers claim he became 'argumentative and uncooperative' and had tried to stab an officer while his parents slammed police and demanded an investigation.

Newly released bodycam footage shows the moment officers approached Glass
When police arrived, Glass refused to get out of his car, saying he was scared as officers yelled at him to exit the vehicle.

'Please, push me out, drag me out, I'll follow you to a police station,' Glass told the officers. 'I'm so scared.'

At one point he can be seen praying with folded hands and saying, 'Dear Lord, please, don't let them break the window.'

He refused to get out of his car for more than an hour, before pulling out a knife, leading police to fire bean bag rounds and tase Glass before firing into the car.

Glass had initially called 911 asking them to help him move his car with the audio of the exchange made public.

He admitted he had weapons on him but explained he would dispose of them when police arrived.

'I have a weapon on me, I will throw them out the window as soon as an officer gets here,' he said.

'I have two knives, and a hammer, and a rubber mallet, I guess that's a weapon. I'm not dangerous. I will keep my hands completely visible.'

Glass, are now demanding the officers be held accountable as state authorities investigate the shooting.

'Christian was experiencing a crisis, and he called 911 for help,' said the parents' attorney, Siddhartha Rathod.

'And yet these officers busted out Christian's window, shot him six times with bean bag rounds, tased him multiple times from two Tasers, and then shot him five times.'

Yes is strange he called the cops himself to help move his car but then refuses to get out saying he's scared..maybe drugs have made him paranoid? Or he was having a mental breakdown of some kind

The cops were good. When the kid began to slit his throat you could really hear the emotion in the cops voice. I think they still should have had less cops due to intimidation but all in all it they operated as a team and if I were the chief I’d treat them to some good ribs after some time has passed of course

The police clearly aren’t qualified to deal with mental illness. Heck, they’re barely qualified to do their jobs half the time. It appears they escalated this situation farther than it ever needed to go, and maybe we’re even looking for a confrontation. Shame all the way around. Progressive denver has no one to blame but themselves, granted denver police have to deal with the cesspool that is denver these days.

Tbf in this case they bided their time trying to talk him out of doing anything,if only he had just got out of the car when they asked him too

An autopsy report said Mr. Glass had six gunshot wounds and noted THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, in his system, along with amphetamine that, according to a doctor quoted by The Denver Post, was commensurate with medication for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder.

At one point, he turned to the closed window, cupping his hands in a heart-shaped gesture at the officers. He sometimes kept his hands on the steering wheel but did not open the door or window, unlock the vehicle or get out, as they had requested.

At one point, an officer tried to coax him out with a meal. At another point, an officer said it was “time to move the night on.”

The officers could be heard describing Mr. Glass as putting a knife aside but then picking up another. They repeatedly ordered him to “drop the knife.”

His mother, said that her son loved to take long drives in the mountains, was an artist and an amateur geologist and that he was “having a mental health episode.”

“He was just too scared to get out of his car,” she said.


Like we seen hundreds of times that having mental issues and brandishing a weapon is asking for major trouble when cops are involved as they're not trained to deal with people having mental problems and just focus on what they were thaught to do, eliminating possible danger towards others and themselves.
