Suicide Bomber Blows Himself Up at Chechen Checkpoint

Grozny, This is the shocking moment a suicide bomber disguised as a 'goat herder' blew himself up - taking him and a security guard with him.

CCTV cameras captured the explosion at a checkpoint which reveals in stark reality just how quick these type of attacks can happen - and how fast they are over.

One minute the bearded man is seen sauntering past the oblivious guard, the next there's a plume of smoke and both men are gone.

A second terrorist is reported to have been killed by police officers after lobbing a grenade during the attack yesterday but before he could trigger another explosion.

He and his accomplice had earlier apparently fooled guards into believing they were goat herders who were searching for their 'lost' flock.

They are believed to have even brought some animals with them to complete their disguise.

The blast ripped through a Russian checkpoint on the outskirts of Chechnya's capital city of Grozny at about 7am.

Security across all the former Soviet states is meant to be beefed up for 'Victory Day' events to mark the 71st anniversary of the WWII victory over Nazi Germany.

The victim is Russian policeman stood guard at the checkpoint.

The huge explosion not only killed him and the terrorist outright, but left a further six policemen seriously injured.

All of the injured are being treated for their wounds in a local hospital which is not releasing details about their condition. One report said that three of them were 'in a grave condition'.

Police later named the terrorists behind the early morning attack as Shamil Janaraliev, 27, and Akhmet Inalov, 25.
