By opening fire in a crowded area, with innocent people behind his target that could be hit by stray bullets? For not using his taser, which he had plenty of time to draw and use, which would've allowed the person to get treatment instead of a funeral? That's not professionalism, that's stupidity and slow thought process.
So what would you do?
Bet you would let him run around and take a hostage.
Read a situation for what it is dildo.

Your downplaying of mental health issues is part of the problem. These people have very little to help them and the prison system is all too often the answer to dealing with it in America. Did you leave this young man any other choice?

That was the cops stupidity for shooting with his pistol in such a crowded area. He had ample time to draw and aim his taser, but chose to use lethal force instead.
Which is exactly what I think! That cop could have just as easily tased this guy and there would have been no lives lost... Instead he chooses to use lethal force jeopardizing all those innocent bystanders... Personally I have no sympathy whatsoever for this cop... I hope his poor judgment haunts him for the rest of his days...
