Re: Struck and Killed by Boat Propeller in Egypt
If you're patient enough, u have to frame-by-frame it during the moment the boat strikes him, during the frenzied rescue effort underwater and also when they are trying to save him on the boat. When the boat strikes him, you can see his left forearm and hand strike the propeller shaft which pulls him toward the propeller. Both his head and right hand is then struck and he spins around with his right hand missing and blood beginning to pour out of his neck. His left hand seems untouched. From there you have a LOT of frames to look through to see an occasional finger in the water, but there are several moments where the camera locks onto the diver while he is on the boat and you can see his injuries in quite a lot of detail... a huge gash on the top of his head, missing ear and slices all the way down to his neck... then a moment where you see his arm outstretched with his bloodied, fingerless hand on the end looking like a red stump. I'd say he was knocked unconscious when the boat struck him and that he would have started drowning well before the other diver got to him. Sharing his oxygen while swimming back to the boat might have helped him live a little longer but I wonder if the second diver saw his neck bleeding and tried to stem the flow. He was bleeding from his jugular vein for at least a minute while in the water then up to at least another 2 minutes while on the boat. Judging by the amount of blood he lost, I'd say he died soon after they got him on the boat. |
