Re: Steven Sotloff Beheading Video

I was wondering and sorry to ask dumb question, but something doesn't add up for me. when ken bigley and nick berg were beheaded nothing was edited out. My question is who edited this and why were ken and nicks videos not treated the same way?. I'm not too fussed about watching it but could someone confirm that there is a full length version that plays out like all other beheadings we see?.

Re: Steven Sotloff Beheading Video

In one way, I'm appalled that our Government that claims to be transparent and free is censoring information from the public that funds its existence. On the other hand, my rational mind gets why they are doing it. The only way to curve terrorism is to lessen its effect.

The key element of terrorism is public awareness of terrorist acts. If we cannot see the utter brutality, it sends a PR blow to ISIL and, hopefully, makes them resort to something else (preferably less horrific).

To the guy that said we are disgusting for wanting to see things like this and have no life: The average American is in a bubble of oblivious ignorance. There are countries on earth that experience 9/11 everyday, yet most Americans will only experience that horror once in their lifetime. DR brings humanity's ills to your living room. It serves as an exercise in desensitization. You need to know what happens outside the safety of your borders. Its a harsh world out there, educate yourself.
Was just going to skip over this, believing that everyone has a right to their opinion but there's one issue I take with the premise of the writer here.

He/she believes that in order to be 'educated' about things going on outside the borders of the US, I must force myself to watch videos of medieval savages removing the head of an innocent man from his torso. How exactly is this going to educate me or anyone else to the realities of the world when we all know how to read newspapers (hopefully) and other sources of news available throughout the internet?

The writer believes that those who take umbrage over the killing of a fellow citizen are somehow xenophobic in that we hardly offer an objection to the killing of another as long as they aren't American. This thinking is foolish insofar as I and many others here find the killing of another human being by either accident or intent to be a tragedy.

What I find particular disturbing among many of you is the clamoring seen in this thread alone to get a hold of a video showing the death of another human being. There are so many of you out there, especially the younger types who's sole source of entertainment appears to be the gratuitous violence being committed against a fellow human being.

Personally, I hope all of you enjoyed the hell out of whatever was available to see from this video and offer a personal apology that many of you were so disappointed that you didn't get to see the blood spurting all over the place and stuff. /sarc off

I know there will be a few who think I'm full of shit and will automatically offer the usual 'then what are you doing here then' bullshit and that's fine. Why I'm here is my own business and if you don't like what I have to say, merely skip over it thinking it the ramblings of a 'bleeding heart'.

Either way, I don't quite give a fuck to worry about it. My original comments from page 2 of this thread stand; possibly more so now than ever.

From a liveleak.com announcement:

What we won't allow are videos like the James Foley video. There is a difference between showing what is happening and advertising. Sometimes it's a fine line, sometimes (as with this particular video) not so fine. Our stance was not based solely on this video but on the very real possibility IS will be releasing similar videos in the near future. These videos are shot, edited and polished in Iraq (thanks to a LiveLeak member for informing me about the production company responsible, it made for interesting reading), then distributed to western media outlets. They are aimed at advertising the IS message directly to the west. They are advertising, slickly produced pseudo snuff movies and we want no part in them should they come up.
.
This would be my guess.

What the fuck are you doing on here then ?, crawl back into whatever cockroach infested hole you emerged from...
Typical douche bag comment. Has absolutely no clue as to what I'm talking about because he's too busy switching from here to some fapping site.

Re: Steven Sotloff Beheading Video

Respectfully, the reason some of us wanted to see this video (and of course I can only speak for myself--I just assume that some others have the same motivation) is that these videos are unique. In many of the politically-motivated beheading videos you see, the people are speaking in a language I can't understand. Also, the victims don't usually give a 'message' directly to the camera. I wanted to see this video to see what was being said. Also, you can't always just believe what you see on the news and on internet sites. There is a lot of propaganda and 'spin' out there and it makes it difficult (sometimes) to know what is genuine and valuable information.

i got the vid PM'd to me three times within minutes of sending the request (once by chris and once by another mod literally within a minute)....

Re: Steven Sotloff Beheading Video

Not going to quote the whole length of that wordy response:

Listen, I understand what you're saying and I watched that poor bastard's testimonial that was available at The Daily (I think).

Admittedly, my revulsion stems from the fact that I refuse to watch any of these damn beheading videos believing my system can only take so damn much. I remember how horrifying it was to watch the first two or three seconds of Nick Berg's death - visions and sounds that stayed with me for weeks.
