Probably a quick and somewhat painless way to go. Pretty sure light travels faster than your pain receptors and he just lit up like the Grriswald’s house on Christmas.

Just remembered, I saw this in theatres back in '89. This was a scene from the original Transformers movie. It had a low key marketing campaign, that's why many people haven't heard of it.
