Re: Shark Attack Claims Brazilian Teen's Life

Bull sharks are a problem there

I simple tourniquet 4 inches above the wound would be efficient to control that bleeding
What bleeding? lol. Oh you mean the blood that's floating in the water?

"I got an idea; let's go swimming in shark infested water! What could go wrong?"
Yeah I've wondered about that. If people actually consider the statistics. Statistics say you're more likely to be struck by lightning than get attacked by a shark. Only problem is when you go into the waaaaater, then those odds are jusst a bit, different . Sucks to be reminded we are still part of the food chain. Respect mother nature.

Re: Shark Attack Claims Brazilian Teen's Life

"We knew there were risks of an attack, but I didn't think that it would happen in the shallow (water), but in the deep," the cousin said.

Isn't that like Shark Attack 101 No. 1?
Most shark attacks occur in 3 feet of water or less.

Sharks don't even know what we are. But if something is in distress, sending out signals in the water and is roughly prey size then you just made today's special.

Let's just drag her around until there's not a drop of blood left in her.

Re: Shark Attack Claims Brazilian Teen's Life

You guys should look closer... she DID have a tourniquet on (mid thigh) and was still alive as of the end of the vid. She moved her foot on the good leg and her toes...
I did not see a tourniquet mid thigh. I put a black arrow pointing to another wound above the knee. That wound is clearly visible in the ER pic contributed by Angelahh. The red arrow is pointing to her bikini bottoms. Unless the tourniquet is blocked by the mans right leg.

Re: Shark Attack Claims Brazilian Teen's Life

Hi. New here. Is that pic from the ER? I'm curious as to why there's no tourniquet there either. I also didn't know she'd been bitten twice. I've watched the video several times and never noticed that wound above her knee. Poor thing.

Shark attacks are actually not that common, and they are a very misunderstood animal. Great Whites for example, kill on average 1 person a decade, while theyre directly responsible for on average only 2 attacks a year. They want to eat something with blubber, much like a sea lion or a seal.
