The 3rd shooting was 4 blocks from my apartment & the 4th shooting was 5 blocks. Last 4th of July weekend (2022) there was a mass shooting (4 shot with 1 being killed) 2 blocks from my apartment. Over the last 15 months, excluding the shootings I've just mentioned, there have been 6 other shootings all within 2 miles of my place. Access to guns in NYC is apparently not difficult. Most of these shootings are committed by people who possess mental illness and/or have criminal records. So, unless the mentally ill receive the help they need, scumbags are kept in jail & guns are kept off the streets, the gun violence will continue. The rest of us are just sitting fucking ducks!

In interested in this argument. I’m not American but my understanding is the “law abiding citizen” with a gun who takes out the baddie is a myth, or at best very rare. Any references you can provide would be interesting. I’m not trolling. I’m intrigued to know if this is the case, because loads of shootings seem to happen in States that also allow concealed carry (let’s face it random shootings are an American-wide fetish) but I never see reports of the baddie getting taken out by law abiding citizens.

He, Thomas Abreu, of Brooklyn, will be arraigned in Queens today on charges accusing him of gunning down an elderly father of six and injuring three others in broad daylight on Saturday.

Abreu had (allegedly) used a 9mm “ghost gun” equipped with an extended magazine.

Police source: “This guy had a lot of ammunition on him. There were going to be other bodies dropped.”
