He fired at them with a gun right? He is considered a deadly threat and needed to be neutralized, there was no way officers would be able to tell if he still had a gun or not in the heat of gunfire at night-time

Can't tell but I according to story he fired a shot. Then he gets out of the car. Of course the cops will continue to shoot at a person who shot at them, and opens the door and gets out. I'm sure it's tough to tell for all officers where the gun is in that couple seconds. Not too mention even if he was seen to be unarmed. He is still a violent felon who poses a threat to whoever he comes across. So he should be put down. |

1:36. you never know if he's carrying another piece in his wasteband or a knife and invade a home so yeah they have to take him down and in these situations they don't aim for his legs but for the greater body mass like his torso. Would be different if he didn't fire that shot at the cops first
