Re: Russian Blonde Parking
And that's the big problem that's yet to be dealt with before any of the self-driving vehicle visions has any chance of working in reality... who is responsible when the vehicle is involved in an accident, especially where injuries or fatalities are involved. At some point along the automation curve it becomes unfair to blame the human "driver", because they're not in complete control of the vehicle. But mass-blame toward the manufacturers will kill any and all attempts by bankrupting them in litigation. Hell, even these new parking assist features that are actually now becoming a reality on daily consumer vehicles could very well spell disaster if this issue is not clearly defined before the bodies start piling up. And the bodies will start piling up. No system, no matter how well designed, is completely free of fault and none will ever achieve 100% perfection. Given enough time failures will occur, and their will be casualties. We need to decide now how we're going to handle that.
