Re: Rome, Drives the Car at 280 Km/h: a Young Man of 22 Dies
Too stupid to be alive. I've driven an R8 V10 at 175 MPH. These things aren't as sophisticated as people think. A sudden brake and the balance will shift from rear to front and the judder from that alone will scare the living daylights out of you and cause catastrophe. Thank god I've matured. Those days are behind me. For all those who want to take shots at me I was wise enough to do my thrills on single lane one-way highways with zero traffic in front for miles on deserted expressways. Concrete barriered from left and right with no incoming/merging traffic flows. |

Re: Rome, Drives the Car at 280 Km/h: a Young Man of 22 Dies
It is Monday night, the Grande Raccordo Anulare is less busy than usual at that time. Three guys in an Audi R8 whiz past the few cars with loud music. At the wheel is OB, a 22-year-old of Roma origin residing in Aprilia, who tries to push hard on the accelerator. Beside him, his friend NC, also of Roma origin, who resumes the race with his cell phone. The flashing of the headlights to ask for space from the cars in front, the overtaking on the right and the speedometer that marks 293 km / h before the crash. OB crashes into the Jersey concrete barrier and loses control of the R8. Taken urgently to the Tor Vergata Polyclinic, he died shortly after. His friend, on the other hand, was hospitalized at the Casilino Polyclinic where the doctors declared him out of danger of life. Sitting on the back seats of that R8, there was also a pregnant girl who did not suffer any particular injuries and was discharged by Umberto I in a few hours. Those of OB and NC are two surnames already known to the police, in particular to the Gico section (Investigation groups on organized crime) of the financial police. Both families, in fact, were involved in the sale of cocaine and hashish in the southern quadrant of Rome and linked with some gangs of the 'Ndrangheta. In addition to the video shot by NC already available to investigators, the recordings of the video surveillance systems present on the Grande Raccordo Anulare will also be examined. What we are trying to understand is whether the three had engaged in some sort of clandestine race with another car that fled after the crash. |

Usually it's only the driver that survives, this is a nice change of pace.
