Re: Real Christine Chubbuck Suicide Video [POSSIBLE HOAX]
Let's look at this video realistically. Think about all the other videos you have seen on this site involving self inflicted gun shot wounds to the head. When someone shoots themselves in the brain pan there is a momentary stiffening of the body torso. This is caused by a sudden discharge of neurotransmitters in the parts of the brain not immediately damaged from the shot. This flood of neurotransmitters causes the body to react, which is manifested by stiffening in the arms and legs and torso. This can be thought of as the brains way of saying HOLY SHIT I'VE BEEN SHOT. I just don't see that here. Instead the body is thrown immediately down away from the side of the injury and immediately losing all muscle tone. This shouldn't happen unless ALL NERVE PATHWAYS from the brain to the body are suddenly destroyed such as in a SUDDEN decapitation. What happens in this video is the Hollywood interpretation of what happens from bullet trauma to the brain. I just don't remember ever seeing a self inflicted head wound reacting quite like this in a video which was clearly real. I'm a retired physician with over 30 years of experience and this is my opinion. Take it or leave it, it doesn't change the fact that a real person DID do what is represented here, which is sad. |

Re: Real Christine Chubbuck Suicide Video [POSSIBLE HOAX]
Found this on a link kellyhound provided: http://www.newyorker.com/culture/cul...-movie-trailer Here is an interesting bit from the article featuring Rob Smith (Smitty): On the day Chubbuck killed herself, Smitty got a call. “I went down and I saw the tape. I’ll never forget—our program director was dubbing version after version. And we’re going, ‘What are you doing?’ And he’s saying, ‘Everybody’s gonna want this, CBS, NBC, they’re all gonna want it.’ We’re like, ‘You can’t show this shit! This is horrible.’ So the family got involved, and the owner put a clamp on it.” Smitty shook his head. “I saw it once and I didn’t need to see it anymore. It didn’t look real.” “It just looked fake, like a bad joke or something?” Shilowich asked. Smitty nodded. “That was something that Chris would do. I can see her doing a fake suicide more than anybody.” With all of that said, I am one of the few who seem to feel this video does match up with the Sally Quinn description. If this is indeed a re-enactment, it is well done. Look at the lighting in the picture with the other broadcasters. I previously read posts regarding there being a mug on top of the letter C on the desk, no....that is the lighting. It matches up with the other real photographs. If you pause this video JUST before she falls off the chair, you can see that she is wearing a black and white patterned dress." Another link provided of stills with comments: imgur.com/a/mtfwT I think this shows many copies were printed off and the stills of the video are compelling. |

Re: Real Christine Chubbuck Suicide Video [POSSIBLE HOAX]
Fake. There was broadcast quality equipment back then in regional TV news stations so there's no reason for the quality to be so poor other than the fact that it very conveniently masks that this is a fake perpetrated by some weird Christine Chubbock deathhag fetishist with a talent for amateurish, cheapjack stagings. I can't believe some of you idiots fell for it |
