police are no different from most any other grouping of people (such as blacks, whites, protestants, catholics, teachers, chinese, college kids, doctors, farmers, homeless people, computer techs, midgets, teenagers, homosexuals, preachers, rocket scientists, etc.) there will be good ones and there will be bad ones. and there will be those somewhere in between.

i have nothing but respect for a cop who acts like a human and treats others like humans. on the other hand, a crooked cop that plants evidence and/or lies on his/her report or threatens you because s/he thinks s/he can and has that "i am god. tremble in fear of me" attitude... they are worse than the criminals they arrest.

The Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner concluded that the causes of death for him were "complications of cardiac arrest in the setting of acute psychosis, law enforcement subdual and multiple medical problems" (click HERE) for more details.
Maricopa County Board of Supervisors tried to settle it with $550,000 to avoid a jury trial, not exactly evidence of innocence.
The man was mentally ill and jail health-care workers failed to recognize his signs of mental illness (which were so obvious that they were even mentioned in Police reports, which said that "he became distracted and attempted to chase cars while talking to officers"), denied him the medical treatment he needed and sent him through the booking process where officers made fun of his mental state before becoming physically engaged with him after provoking him, and anyway the proportion of force used wasn't equivalent to the potential threat. Not a surprise, given the sheriff's background.
The law-enforcement subdual killed him, definitely he did NOT get what he deserved.
