I don't see how they have been romanticised, if you know anything about them you will know they were bloodthirsty murderers, there's nothing romantic about that. I see how movies make up history yes, but they are movies, real life is a tad different. If people buy into that bullshit then more fool them. I never defended this guy. I hadn't even heard of him before this thread, and still don't know a whole lot about him. I didn't do much research, but he does sound like a P.O.S. I just decided to challenge the notion that old time italian-american mobsters are somehow automatically more "real" than african-american bangers of the last few decades. There's been a lot of jokers, for sure, and a lot of posing since it got romanticized by the gangster rap era in the late 80s/early 90s, but there's plenty of african-americans who were just as "legit" as anyone, IMO. |
