I am not all for it, but it is better than what we have in the US, guy kills and gets to go live in a hotel like jail watching TV, and doesnt even have to worry about bills. That is more like reward than a punishment

1- killed someone or 2- mega drug traffiking (not personal use or dealing) I am Saudi and I know what I am talking about. Kill and be killed or Smuggle drugs and be killed. It works, we have the lowest crime rate and drug use in Saudi. |

Ow yeah, Amen to that. I live in one of the top 5 best countries in the world to live in regarding standards of living, the Netherlands, and along with most of the other ones on the list you only have to share a jail cell with a maximum of one other person, usually you have your own cell. And it's a relatively large one as well usually, around 4 by 2 meters and with a colour television with cable, radio, private toilet cubicle (in case your sharing your cell) a microwave oven, some closets for your clothes and some cubbards(sp?) to put your weekly amount of food your given (milk, sugar, coffee, tea, broad, chocolate spread, the long list goes on ....) And you can even have a PlayStation or Xbox in your cell to play with on your tv if you have at home and brought to prison by someone else for you. You don't have to share showers in the majority of prisons or possibly even in all showers, you have shower cubicles instead. You get weekly allowance payed by the prison from which you can either buy a pack of sigarettes from your choosing or a phone card. Doing prison time in the Netherlands is so damn good, it's like a fucking holiday if you're broke or homeless. I can speak from my own experience, I've spent some time, innocent however (some biatch friend shove his sentence into my shoes but I got it turned over by my court appointed free lawyer) and for which I'm now filing a major lawsuit against the justice department for wrongfull incarceration. The national amount award in these circumstances is between Euro 95-120 a day, depending on whether you were in a county jail or in a prison and under what circumstances. Yeah, life is good in the Netherlands ....  |
