Not only did he walk up with an AK, still images of the events show that he had his rifle at the ready moments before shots were fired. If you raise your rifle at someone in Texas and they have a weapon as well, expect to get shot.

This is for you, bro. You can clearly hear two different types of weapon shots. From the accounts that I've heard, Garrett shot five times into the car first (apparently the hood of the car to scare the driver) and the driver returned fire. That's the account that I heard.

Also, in the video, right before the shots get fired. You can clearly hear someone say "everybody back up!" So you know somebody was expecting something to happen.

My interpretation of the shots: 5 loud and heavy shots (possibly AK). 3 cracking type shots (possibly return fire). 1 last rifle shot. I could be wrong but it sounds like that to me.
