Idk if the guy had PTSD or not, but he did join the reserves as a "heavy equipment operator." That's a Seabee rating that falls under the expeditionary side of the navy. And seabees most definitely deploy to combat zones. Fairly regularly tbh.

I don't know if he deployed to a combat zone or not. I could probably find out easily enough.. it's a small community and even smaller on the reserve side. I'm sure I know somebody that knew the guy.

Yeah, I getcha. It's largely irrelevant, though. I was speculating (other than about him being a water maintenance engineer, which I did verify) about whether he saw combat or not because it was not really germane to my point. Someone came and stated unequivocally that he had been diagnosed with PTSD due to his service in the Navy and I wanted a citation for that 'fact.' I was really just pointing out as an aside that his service as a water maintenance engineer possibly didn't give him any more proclivity for PTSD than your average postal worker.

All that said, I don't care if his brain was 75% shrapnel and he lived in a walking nightmare of imaginary shells raining down, it does not justify, legally nor ethically, committing cold-blooded murder because someone was insulting him.
