Re: Officer-involved Shooting That Killed a Homeless Man

Yeah this guy definitely made all the right choices and then got murdered in cold blood lol... Sounds kind of like someone who doesn't understand how a person could get lung cancer from smoking...

Re: Officer-involved Shooting That Killed a Homeless Man

Look up the Tueller Drill. Someone can get to you in 1.5 seconds and inflict a deadly wound. I'm not saying this is right, in fact, the thing that bothers me about this is the fact that there were cop cars in between them and the suspect. He couldn't have made it over the car, but the video doesn't show where everyone else was. Plus, a tazer is only good and accurate to about 15 feet, they run out of steam pretty quick, so letting him get closer would have been a bad idea. Certainly looked like they could've had a longer conversation than "Drop the BANG."

Re: Officer-involved Shooting That Killed a Homeless Man

As I watched this, I immediately went, "Oh, that poor man!" Not poor as in innocent but poor as in homeless. Looks like another suicide by cop. The equation is simple: advance on a police officer holding anything in your hand that can be construed as a weapon - be it a hammer, a glock or a baked potato in the shape of a glock - and you will be SHOT. This equation isn't calculus. It's simple 101 math.

Re: Officer-involved Shooting That Killed a Homeless Man

well for one, mandatory tazers should be issued so they don't jump up to the top of the escalation of force ladder like they always do. holding a knife from afar doesn't mean he should be executed for it...now does it. his dirty ass could have been spared. so why not taze his ass, or even perhaps talking to the dude before instantly going to fire the damn weapon.

dumb ass cops strike again.

Guy was clearly a piece of shit, so who cares...BUT that was pretty much straight unjustified. He was a good 10 yards away and stopped moving. they shot when he pointed the knife in their general direction.

Re: Officer-involved Shooting That Killed a Homeless Man

Some people have called me a total moron for suggesting that cops get 2 clip types: One blue and the remainder red. The blue one is the mandatory initial clip and the first 5 rounds are rubber bullets. This provided the stopping power needed in a pinch, and if you are in a situation where you need live rounds you will either eventually get to them or if you know you're arriving to a deadly situation, you can change clips to the red one.

I've had some people try to claim that not having deadly force at immediate disposal is stupid and life-threatening, but I don't think the 3 seconds it takes to run through the rubber rounds is going to be the difference between life and death for a cop because rubber rounds absolutely have the same stopping power as lethal rounds, just minus the death.

Seems like a viable solution to me.

Don't have a problem with that. Do the job and then criticize, dont quarterback your decision from the internet...

3 seconds is an eternity if someone is stabbing you....
