While I sympathize with your sentiments here and agree that other animals preceded us and may survive our demise, it is hard to make the case on Darwinian grounds that we're the lowest form of existence. The ladder of evolution moves from simple to more complex forms, particularly in the neurological sense, and we are definitely high end on this criterion. Perhaps you are suggesting this on moral rather than strictly evolutionary grounds? But then where and how, in the long process of evolutionary development, does this entity called morality appear? Does a certain level of neurological-physiological complexity somehow, magically, give birth to a realm of morality so that, e.g. a human murderer is blameworthy but a lion killing its prey isn't? How so? What is it about physical complexity that can give rise to morality? The two things appear to be totally disconnected. No, in the last analysis you can't ground any sort of morality on Darwinian theory. You need a god for that. Do you go in that direction?

What do "Rock Kickers" deserve? He was actually moving a rock that was a tripping hazard or could crash a bike... He should have been pat on the back and he gets run over?? IT WAS A ROCK!!!!!! |
