North Hollywood Store Shooting That Left Suspect and Teenage Girl Dead
North Hollywood: On December 23, 2021, around 11:45 a.m., North Hollywood officers responded to a radio call for an Assault with a Deadly Weapon in Progress, at a business, on the 12100 block of Victory Boulevard. While enroute to the location, officers received multiple radio calls from the same location that there was a possible shooting in progress and that there were individuals sheltering in place. As the officers arrived at the location, they began a search for the suspect. During that search, officers located a female who was suffering from various injuries and bleeding. They encountered the suspect a short distance away and an officer involved shooting occurred. The suspect was struck by gunfire and taken into custody. Fire department paramedics responded and determined the suspect deceased at scene. One victim was transported to the hospital for injuries sustained as a result of the suspect’s attack and was admitted in unknown condition at this time. Unbeknownst to the officers, a 14-year-old girl was in a changing room behind a wall, that was directly behind the suspect and out of the officers’ view. ![]() She was in the changing area with her mother when the officers encountered the suspect and the officer involved shooting occurred. During a search for additional suspects and victims, officers found the girl and discovered she had been struck by gunfire. She was pronounced dead at the scene. At this preliminary phase of the investigation, it is believed that victim was struck by one of the rounds fired by an officer at the suspect. Police commented: “This chaotic incident resulting in the death of an innocent child is tragic and devastating for everyone involved. I am profoundly sorry for the loss of this young girl’s life and I know there are no words that can relieve the unimaginable pain for the family. My commitment is to conduct a thorough, complete and transparent investigation into the circumstances that led up to this tragedy and provide the family and public with as much information as possible. I have directed the release of the critical incident video by Monday, December 27th, which will include the 9-1-1 calls, radio transmissions, body worn video and any CCTV and other evidence gathered at this preliminary stage.” Pursuant to Assembly Bill 1506 (AB 1506), the California Attorney General’s Office will be investigating and will independently review the officer-involved-shooting. The California Department of Justice’s California Police Shooting Investigation Team for Southern California deployed to the scene of the OIS. Alongside other law enforcement partners, the California Department of Justice is investigating the incident. Once the investigation has been completed, it will be turned over to the California Department of Justice’s Special Prosecutions Section within the Criminal Law Division for independent review. The Los Angeles Police Department Family Liaison is working closely with the Mayor’s Crisis Response Team and Council Member Monica Rodriguez to provide assistance to the 14-year-old girl’s family. The suspect fatally shot by police inside a North Hollywood Burlington store had an extensive criminal history that included an arrest and guilty plea for domestic battery and fleeing from police. On Friday, coroner's officials identified the suspect as 24-year-old D. E. L, whose criminal history included an arrest and guilty plea for domestic battery and fleeing from police. The 14-year-old girl who was killed by a stray bullet fired by an LAPD officer in that shooting was also identified as V. O.-P. ![]() |

Re: North Hollywood Store Shooting That Left Suspect and Teenage Girl Dead
~ The damn repeat offender & criminal moron was asking for it, because his life was overdone anyway, so he wanted to become final toast for Christmas Holidays. ~ First he beligerently blocked the 2nd floor Burlington store elevator stairs with his bike. Then he began hitting random objects with the cable bike lock, instigating someone/anyone to call officers to the scene. Soon after he took off his pants. ~ Then he psyked himself up to the point of hitting whichever woman was dumb enough not to perceive that he was a threat. He didn't seem to focus on any men. ~ So it probably meant women troubles in his life caused him deserved frustration & perturbance. ~ Since his holiday was ruined, everyone else, especially women, had to pay. ~ He didn't feel like hitting any vulnerable women was enough, so he momentarily stepped out of the store, & then felt afraid when he saw how many officers were gonna bring him down. So he booked it back up to the second floor for some more beat downs on a clueless woman. ~ It was that one overzealous office with the rifle that was itching to be trigger happy, pushing past the officers in front of him trying to get a clear shot, & who half-hazardly, & with prejudice, fired at the idiot criminal, who deserved it anyway, but the officer failed to follow safety protocol to prevent innocent lives from being inadverently involved. ~ ELMER FUDD RIFLE COMPILATION |

I'm all for deadly force when needed. But that loser didn't even have a gun. They could have taken him down without gunfire, and that poor girl would still be alive. Fucking lazy/scary ass cops too afraid to tangle with a suspect so they shot first.

Re: North Hollywood Store Shooting That Left Suspect and Teenage Girl Dead
It was a hectic scene. Police arrive; see a woman on the floor (the perpetrator's pimp smacked wife/gf?) who appears to be severely injured by either a gun or a knife, and then all hell broke loose and they took the scumbag down without taking too much time to sort things out. Sloppy but not particularly outrageous. When you're told there's an active shooter situation, sometimes it's best to shoot first then ask questions later to minimize the loss of innocent lives. A true tragedy though about that unlucky girl in the dressing room. She was in the wrong place (very wrong) at the wrong time, poor kid |

Re: North Hollywood Store Shooting That Left Suspect and Teenage Girl Dead
I watched the last video of the officer involved shooting first and didn't see the previous security cam footage of the suspect pacing belligerently before I posted and didn't know that it was a stranger the idiot was brutally attacking before he was shot. His behavior in the footage seems to suggest that he was mentally ill but of course this isn't a consideration when someone is violent and attempting to kill randoms in public. You just take them out immediately as in any "active shooter situation." Cops who hesitate can cost lives. But to be honest, there's the other side of the bell curve, and this cop was a bit too gung ho and sloppy for my liking and we don't need even more stupid cops on the force, as Kim Potter proved.
