Re: Murder Suspects Shoot 34 Times at L.A. Police
Not long ago on this site we've seen same procedure. Not uncommon I think, car on flat street is pretty stable. Only unprofessional touch I felt was when cop stopped behind that car, opened door and started reloading. That could have been costly. |

I thought he did a great job. Maybe not exactly by the book, but he got two piece of shit murderers off the street. One in the hospital and one in the ground!

Re: Murder Suspects Shoot 34 Times at L.A. Police
I'm not certain but I've heard police prefer 40 cal over 9mm because 40's are rated better in penetrating car windshields as most 9mm will bounce off or trajectory effected. Shooting through was probably his best bet in determining accuracy without exposing himself to return-fire, despite what kind of weapons the criminals used. That and he is guranteed to get a brand new fancy police cruiser, your tax dollars at work. |

Re: Murder Suspects Shoot 34 Times at L.A. Police
With all that bullshit said, it all probably really came down to training vs real life, flight or fight, and steering issues at that angle whilst one-handing a pistol in mid-pursuit. They don't train LEOs to shoot through their own windshields and I can tell by the body language/hand gestures his brain was trying to decide what was best to do while he was in a position to take the shot, so he said fuck it and shot through the windshield at his 12 o clock, perfectly lined up with his targets, probably went through the back and front seats of the suspects vehicle and helped end the pursuit. It's not easy firing from a moving vehicle, with one hand on the wheel and another on a pistol, although he might have could have used his knees to stabilize the wheel, but again, not trained for this kind of scenario, he did his best and it worked.

Re: Murder Suspects Shoot 34 Times at L.A. Police
Probably because they already caught a few bullets or shrapnel in their backs prior. Passenger that fled took a hit in the back immediately from buckshot. Good thing the cop didn't do somethin stupid like try to pit them between the building, that would have increased his chance of being shot from both sides.
