A Turkish man threw his seven-year-old boy to his death from the 11th floor of his apartment, then minutes later threw himself off while horrified witnesses looked on helplessly.

Nuria Duran, 36, from Kayseri, had earlier used a hammer and knives to murder his wife Ozlem and his three other children – daughter Dreams, aged one and his two sons Mert, three, and Yigit aged five.

Intent on killing his eldest son, Sean, too, he travelled to his school and collected him.

A CCTV camera filmed them entering their apartment block on Tuesday in a normal fashion, with no outward signs that anything was wrong.

But moments later Sean was thrown from the roof, having been thrown from the window of the flat.

Eventually a man climbed the surrounding fence to check the boy's pulse but he was nearly hit by the father who jumped after the boy.

Duran and his son died instantly upon hitting the ground, according to officials.

Police said Duran had lost his job as a construction worker and was drinking very heavily.
