I have a 96 Tesla driving score. I take more precautions in the winter. That guy is going 50+ mph, maybe even 60 trying to overtake after a turn, with ice accretion visible on the road.

Getting hit head on like that is a 100+ mph crash and he was ejected out the passenger side.

People are idiots assuming they can drive the same speed in rain or snow then act surprised they hydroplane or skid into an accident. I always get the fuck away from people driving recklessly.

I love the winter car accident posts. When you live in a location that gets a proper winter, driving in shitty ass conditions is just something you have to deal with for several months every single year. We can't very well slow down to 20 kph for a third of the year. The state of the roads would be an absolute fucking zoo. So we drive with a little extra caution, but otherwise the same way we drive during the summer months. We must put a little faith in the snow clearing and road safety programs that are in place to make the roads as safe as they can be. Obviously that can't end well 100% of the time, with some local governments being much better at it than others. Yeah, people do crash because of the snow and ice. It's just another daily risk you just have to file under being alive.

For the record, that driver didn't do anything obvious that was a big red flag. He didn't look to be going much faster than about 60 kph to me. Looks like he might have just got unlucky. Then again, even on pure ice a vehicle driving in a straight line isn't gonna suddenly funky chicken all sideways on its own like that, so there was most likely some ill advised inputs from the driver that started that spin. Once he got spinning, though, he was just along for the ride. That's just the reality of driving in a proper winter.

We drive in this shit 5 months a year up here. I just turned 50 & have seen, done, & experienced about as much dumb-shit driving in this type of weather.....
Mother Nature is a moody, old whore. It doesn't matter where you live, she has a way of letting you know when it's her time. This type of weather, in this clip, is the way she has always said "Fuck you" to the New England area.
