Two people - a man and a woman - were struck and killed by a Metrolink train in Lake Balboa on Monday evening. Initial reports from the L.A. City Fire Department said crews arrived to find two female patients who were "beyond medical help", and determined them dead at the scene.

However, LAPD told KTLA that the victims were described as one female and one male. Investigators have not yet said why the victims were on the tracks.

Reports from Citizen.com said the train was upright and operational, and that none of the 200 passengers onboard were injured.
