Re: Man Takes a Shot to the Back of the Head
Justine Ruszczyk, and that is in Minneapolis. A fallacy is the unarmed rate. Unarmed is not equal to non threatening. That unarmed statistic thrown around also considers fake/toy guns as unarmed and that isn't the same. Filter out the obvious suicide by cop incidents out of those unarmed numbers. Some people choose suicide by cop over spending a substantial part of their remaining life in prison. Those numbers plummet to such a small number that words like double literally means one white male was killed in those circumstances and two black males were killed in a given year. Any death by law enforcement in this country is investigated as a criminal matter and another investigation looking into internal policy violations. Some get a third investigation into civil rights violations at the federal level. I would suggest looking at the study conducted by the DOJ under Eric Holder during the Obsma Administration on race and use of force. It found no detectable racism. I'm sure you can name off a number of people you think were unjustly killed by law enforcement in the last decade. Of those names, the officers were subjected to all of the above investigations. Some went to trial by our courts. Very few see jail time because very few are convicted due to not being able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the officer's conduct was unlawful. The thing is, out of hundreds of millions of citizen contacts each and every year, there are those same handful of names from the last decade(s). Of the names we all know, some found the officers were completely justified in their actions. That is actually quite telling of how good it is far more than how bad it is. I don't think you will find a system better anywhere else in the world. |

Re: Man Takes a Shot to the Back of the Head
If you would like a sort of direct manner of death by police to George Floyd, here is one, although this guy wasn't under arrest at the time, but manner of death is comparable. Watch "Video Proof Dallas Sheriff's Dpt killed my Brother Joseph Hutcheson" on YouTube |

Re: Man Takes a Shot to the Back of the Head
CDC's National Violent Death Reporting System captures more than TWICE the numbers reported by the FBI in the Supplemental Homicide Report, and 71% more deaths than reported by the National Vital Statistics System. Contrary to your statements, reporting is VOLUNTARY, not mandatory. And only the most egregious cases receive any attention from a Civil Rights Investigation standpoint.

Re: Man Takes a Shot to the Back of the Head
I have to wonder why that is not common knowledge. Maybe instead of looting Best Buys and shooting each other they could organize a public education campaign or make some other reasonable, intelligent plan that stands a chance of getting the result they want. Whatever they've been doing ain't working, and this present shit is only alienating everybody. Just sayin'.

Re: Man Takes a Shot to the Back of the Head
BLM is working on educational initiatives, community mental health initiatives, and other efforts to improve black education, black medical care, and mental health care. A lot of it is NOT limited to blacks, but to all low-income individuals with financial and mental health problems. You are only seeing the protest side. The goal is to make the world a better place. (Yes, that includes pushing blacks to get better educations, and using community groups to put pressure on gangs and criminal elements to cease and desist.)

Re: Man Takes a Shot to the Back of the Head
Educational incentives? Fuck dude.. you all already have affirmative action preferential treatment at colleges. That's a known thing. A good friend of mine went to apply for an officers package in the military. He graduated with a nursing degree and maintained 4.0 grades. They denied his request, and when he asked why... the guy literally said to him "look, you're in your 20s and you're white. There's no way." Black medical care tried and failed... miserably I might add. You said that black people account for X% of deaths by cops, which to you is staggering. For a population of people that make up 12% of the population.. there are a lot of violent crimes committed that is just about on par with whites that make up 61% of the population. And come on dude... the wild west, and WWII references? We OBLITERATED native americans and they bitch, whine and complain less than black people. We actually STILL very much oppress native americans. Jewish people got OBLITERATED and complain less than black people. I'm not sure anything would ever be enough. The end result is that it won't matter. Black people tear each other down way worse than any white cop could ever do. |

Re: Man Takes a Shot to the Back of the Head
bro, your 2 "huge" examples are from 150 years ago after the civil war and 75 years ago after WWII. society has come a long way since then, and anyway, can you point to any other country in the world that was less racist than the USA back then? the USA was and almost always has been ahead of the curve in terms of race relations. We helped abolish slavery in the west. don't fall for the BS, the USA is not a racist country. |

Re: Man Takes a Shot to the Back of the Head
Well said. I am appalled at George Floyd’s death at the hands of the police. But honestly I am not convinced that it had anything to do with race. I have seen whites and every other race unjustly abused by bad cops. And do not ever give the cops a free pass when I see them fuck up. That cop deserves to be punished harshly. Very harshly. Cops SHOULD be held to a higher standard. That being said, the cops in Atlanta did nothing wrong in my opinion. If it had been a white guy, I still think it would be a justified shooting. I also believe BLM hurts their cause by playing the race card in justified shootings. They hurt their cause by not addressing the rioting especially in other towns, causing violence against people who had nothing to do with the issue at hand. I seriously don’t believe they are reducing racism whatsoever. They are increasing racism by rioting and making fools of themselves. Gettin in bed with Antifa is a whole other kind of stupid. Antifa will destroy any credibility they have or ever will have. |
