If an elephant kills a person there, do they kill the elephant? Like destroying a lion or tiger that kills someone? Or are they sacred and you can't touch them?

I have heard a story of an elephants in Thailand that saved their owner from a tiger, by stomping the tiger to death when it had their owner cornered. Came up behind the tiger and stomped it right into the ground while it was snarling and ready to pounce.
Pays to give your working elephant treats, and be kind to them.
I understand that was a lumberman, who used elephants to work trees in the forest. So he must have been a good owner.

A good “owner”. First of all he should not be using elephants to work. Second, elephants never forget so he’d obviously pissed this elephant off before. The elephant even took the time to stand on him when he was obviously already dead.
