Am I wrong in thinking police tape is used to create a barrier that bystanders shouldn't cross? And the way you tell if you're on the right side is by not being on the same side as the first responders? ---- Why did the cop have to come at them like that? They didn't seem overly disruptive to me, so why not politely ask them to move if they're too close?... "Because I said so."   |

You'll never be politely asked to stay away from a crime or accident scene in "Murica", that sort of police conduct is more likely to be found abroad. For instance, there is a post on here about a road accident in Mexico and the guy recording is told very politely by the Mexican cop to stay farther away and the guy recording answers politely too: "Okay, I'll do." No egos get hurt this way.  |

In every other country in the world, crowds gather accidents and/or murder scenes getting mere inches away from the victims. Here in the US, they won’t even let you observe from 100 feet away.
