Haha, hope your children weren't traumatised! I'm glad that my son's 17 years old, as there's only a select few things that I won't let him see, so I rarely have to shield my computer screen from him. But my 8 year old daughter has a tendency to come to me without checking first + thankfully it's only been on a handful of occasions that she's seen something + it wasn't anything 'bad' (in comparison to some of the shit I sift through!). Though, all that aside, this site would've been a dream to me as a little kid!

I force my kids to watch on wide screen HD. Toughens them up. I don’t care that they’re in their 30’s either. Better late than never. |

Same here Simone - I would have loved this site as a kid, I remember as a younger adult finding Ogrish and thinking it was like stumbling into an alternate universe. Two of my boys are LEO's, and one of my girls went into the EMT game following me - so there is not a lot they haven't seen by now, and there is no doubt, it has hardened/changed them. I am currently getting run ragged in the P&P sector (probations and parole), and see an ugly side of the community every day during shifts. And anybody who thinks "we" are failing "them", is wrong. Maybe 10% make the effort to stick with the program, the rest we just keep cuffing and stuffing, and then it gets passed on to the next generation. The misery and poverty some the families, connected to "my clientele" (ahem), have to live in is depressing. I used to keep a fair few groceries and little cheap toys in the car boot in an effort to lighten the load for some of them, but it's like bailing out an ocean using nothing but a thimble. That's all too heavy, so let's finish with a joke: Did you hear about the new restaurant they opened on the moon ? Great menu, but a terrible atmosphere. HUZZAHHHHH !! |
