Given how relatively unmessy it is and that only 1 other person got injured, it was probably a concussion grenade instead of a shrapnel one. Not as dangerous as shrapnels outside but very lethal in closed spaces. Thats why the live grenades thrown in practice and gun ranges tend to be concussion ones since theres less of a chance everyone dies if the thrower screws up.
