Re: Man Killed After Playing Around With A Moving Train
I had a friend from high school who got killed by a train. He, in fact, was a train engineer. He got shunted to a siding, so per regulations, he had to walk his train to make sure everything was OK. Mind you, the several diesel "pullers" were running the entire time, which are quite loud. He got a call from another classmate HS classmate of mine, which he took and proceeded to talk to as he did his walk-around of his long train. Somewhere on his walk, he got hit by another train travelling at full-speed on the adjacent track. Full-disco death, before he knew it. The guy on the other end of the line heard the whole thing. I'm not saying these dorks weren't culpable to their own deaths. But trains are loud as fuck. There's a track 3-miles south of my house. I can hear the rumble of the coal-filled trains when they pass by, just from earth-transmittance. Yeah, these guys were dumb fucks, but it's easier to get killed by train than you might think. |

Re: Man Killed After Playing Around With A Moving Train
If you're anywhere near train tracks, you have to put your full attention on them. You don't listen to music, you don't dick around with your buddies and you don't take phone calls. It's only easy to get hit if you're not paying attention and end up in the wrong place at the wrong time. |

Re: Man Killed After Playing Around With A Moving Train
To me it appears that the group of all three were standing beside the railway tracks. Two of them appear to be arguing with each other and the shorter of the two appears to be female. The third guy is just casually standing around looking like he doesn't want to get himself involved in their argument. One of the arguing couple, presumably the male, walks off and onto the track while the female turns and watches him. She then appears to reach out to him to grab him but misses and as the train approaches closer she appears to panic and tries several times to grab him and drag him off the tracks. In the final moment, just before she jumps, it looks like she manages to grab hold of his arm and drag him with her but by then it was too late. The train struck them both before they were clear of the tracks and the train ran straight over the male. Although the female tried to jump out of the way of the train, the train still struck her and threw her clear of the tracks. It doesn't appear as if the train ran over her legs or feet, but it's hard to tell from the low resolution footage. |
