Actually, that is how many people get killed by trains when there are multiple tracks. Happens every few years in my Chicago suburb, we have 3 parallel train tracks.

yes, they did have a rail road barrier thing. guy was on some side road or somehow got around a barrier and pulled in front of the blocked rail road crossing that all the other riders were waiting behind.
