That 'lake' is not a lake at all. It's some sort of hole that gets flooded with water whenever a heavy rain happens. It's probably full of trash and possibly dead animals.
If you notice the other side of the road, there's a visible slum, it's a really poor place crowded of kids highly neglected by their families.
In Brazil it's really common to see small toddlers up to 4 years old wandering around the favela streets, places which can transmit diseases, various broken glasses, unstable dogs and verbal violence exposed.

We used to swim in rivers and mess about but knew playing chicken in a busy road was dangerous. Boys at that age have a bold sense of daring and no concept of repercussions so will put themselves in stupid situations.

People, the same way I come here to thank you all for your support, I also come here to talk about some mother fuckers that don't have anything to do in their lives, people who knows me know my struggle in life to educate and raise my 5 children (that's it, 5), know my situation, to correct them whenever necessary, so don't talk about what you don't know, throwing stones and talk bad things is the gossip's gift and uninformed to disturb the other's lives, who never were a child before and didn't do bad things(?), my God I just want that my son gets out of this

I have almost zero sympathy for the kid, the kid's family or the other kids that were there.

I only feel real sympathy for the poor driver who was the only true innocent in this whole sad affair.
