Exactly. They must have taught you about specific gravity at CSPFS - it is the density of a fluid relative to water (water=1.0). For example, 100LL Avgas is 0.72 under ISA conditions. As I mentioned on the drunk-russians-crossing-frozen-pond thread, we can improve flotation by replacing as much of the water in our bodies as we can with something lighter (lower specific gravity). I wouldn't recommend drinking 100LL (0.72), anyone who did that would be a complete and utter fuel. But I reckon 40% Vodka (SG = 0.91) is a pretty good choice. The more you drink, the less likely you are to drown. In theory at least ... |
