.45 recoil is not that bad and quite easily manageable by even small women. And a .45 (classic 1911 style) has a nice slender handle when compared to most high capacity 9mm's and/or .40's. It's all in the shooter's grounding and technique. Nobody is strong enough to muscle/suppress the recoil and you shouldn't even try. Let the gun have it's natural recoil, reacquire the target and squeeze the trigger again. It's easy and quite natural as long as you flow with the Zen of the gun and allow it to become an extension of 'you'. You have to work with 'it'. 'It' will not work with you.
