Re: Italy - Female Jumper Dead on the Ground After Jumping 88 Metres
Didn’t a fireman get fired after taking Pix of a dead woman in a vehicle accident and then sharing it? Also I think California just signed it into law or something, being a crime to take footage of dead people. Specifically due to pictures taken of the victims in Kobe Bryant plane crash. Though it makes no sense. Bystanders or even the victims themselves taking video of them being murdered by cops and whoever else. Even those people who livestream their own auto crashes that end up with people killed... Or suicides live-streamed. |

Yeah, your absolutely right. Much less leaks out of developed countries. I’m still curious as to exactly why.. after some quick research there is “no expectation of post Mortem privacy” in the US, but another user also mentioned new laws might be in the works, especially since the Kobe crash (let’s pray they leak). I guess it comes down to jurisdiction/state? And how do you even begin to track photos like that with technology nowadays. Shit can get sent to millions in a split second. |

According to Italian penal code (art. 593), you face up to 2 years in prison, if you make a video instead of trying to help. No matter the woman was dead or alive, it is up to every citizen to dial 118 instead of sharing the video on social networks. They want to punish him for being cold-hearted and 101% unemotional, possibly under the pressure of the relatives of the victim. Hypocrisy at its Best, I know it darn well. https://www.brocardi.it/codice-penal...-i/art593.html |

Street photography in Italy is riskier than in some other places. You can't harm the dignity of a stranger in your photograph, and what is more undignified than having your brains falling out in a public square? And Heaven help you if you get a child in the frame under any circumstances.

It's not illegal in the US to film anything in public. You have no expectation of privacy either dead or alive. I doubt California passed any laws regarding filming dead bodies that would be an infringement on freedom of press.
