Re: Inmate Killed After Taking a Corrections Officer Hostage in OCDC
Capt at the prison can't control the inmates and the woman officer who arrived could do nothing but scream "hostage out". But women can do anything men can and better? There are some jobs that are not cut out for women.

Re: Inmate Killed After Taking a Corrections Officer Hostage in OCDC
Most jails in the US have a protocol where meds are passed out by a nurse accompanied by one or two CO's while the inmates are all locked down for obvious reasons. Depending on the security level of the jail, the doors have to be fully opened one at a time in order to distribute meds. If the pod is a higher security unit, those doors stay closed and meds are passed through a small window in the door instead. This pod looks like a lower security level. Another very common practice in lower security levels is to have 3 or even 4 inmates to a cell only meant for 2. Which means two inmates will get the bunk, and the others a "mattress" on the floor. Now try to imagine what it would be like to be stuck in a room not much bigger than a California king sized bed with 2 to 3 other dudes and a toilet for 20+ hrs a day, when all the food gives you gas, and you might begin to understand why those inmates might be a little upset with jail conditions. This isnt the way to go about reform, but if they were smart they wouldnt be in jail in the first place. |

Re: Inmate Killed After Taking a Corrections Officer Hostage in OCDC
Most prisons have a “no hostage negotiation” policy. If you get taken hostage you are on your own, and the best you’re going to get is the cavalry running in guns blazing.
