A "correct" hanging is designed to break the neck instantly, rather than strangle. This woman is strangling, and yes she most certainly can die if she hangs there long enough. Both major blood vessels in her neck are compressed, starving her brain of oxygen. That kills.

This is crazy. Such a waste of a gifted life. She had such a beautiful body, such physical assets, so much to live for—if she only tried harder to bear that searing, yet temporary pain... Anybody who has a glorious body like that has a duty to stay alive and bless the world with their very being, no matter the pain... in my opinion—and take this from a staunchly pro-euthanasia guy. The thought that less prepossessing people pester and aggrieve reality with their mishappen features, while this beautiful body dies—makes me sick to my stomach. Rest in peace, Angel on Earth.
