MUMBAI: The man who killed his wife by pushing her in front of a speeding train at Vasai railway station on Monday was nabbed in Bhiwandi late night. He fled the scene with his two minor children.

Preliminary investigation indicated that the man suspected his wife of infidelity.

The Vasai Government Railway Police registered a case of murder against the accused. At around 4:06 am, the accused woke up his wife sleeping on platform 5, with their two minor children, walked her to the edge of the platform and pushed her in front of the speeding Avadh Express train. She died on the spot. He then woke up his two children, carried one and held the hand of the other and fled from the station.

Police teams got down to nab the accused, who was tracked down to Bhiwandi. The accused had traveled by train to Dadar and Kaylan, before taking an auto rickshaw to Bhiwandi. Railway police said the accused suspected his wife of having an affair with his friend. The couple had landed at the Vasai station on Sunday and stayed on platform 5. They fought at the the station and she called the friend, who he accused her of having an affair.

The entire incident was captured on the platform's CCTV. Cops swung into action as they feared that the accused may end his life or harm the children.
