Police Share New Developments in Fatal Online Challenge Case
The police have released new developments regarding a case where a woman, encouraged by a man on social media, set her top on fire during a live broadcast, suffering severe burns that ultimately led to her death from complications. The involved man is currently under investigation.

The Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County Police Headquarters is investigating a charge of aiding suicide based on a video shared online, after a 36-year-old woman from Tiszasüly, encouraged by the man, set her tank top, worn over her t-shirt, on fire on May 15. To complete the "task," the woman's top had to burn for 20 seconds. During the fulfillment of the challenge, the woman's tank top caught fire to such an extent that she suffered severe burns. The woman was transported to the hospital but passed away on the evening of June 1.


A horrific and shocking video reached our newsroom, showing a woman setting her shirt on fire as part of a TikTok challenge, as a dare. The flames spread so rapidly to her other clothes and body that they couldn't be extinguished in time. According to our information, the incident occurred approximately three weeks ago in a town in the Jászság region. The woman passed away in the hospital recently.

On June 5, police apprehended the 28-year-old man from Bekecs and brought him to the Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County Police Headquarters, where he was questioned and taken into custody. The investigating authority will make a proposal for his arrest. The suspect stated that he does not feel guilty for the victim's death.

The police noted that challenges spreading as trends on social media platforms pose extremely high risks, and it is crucial to draw attention to this!

Many people don't even realize the dangers of virtual challenges, even though these can cause physical or psychological harm, self-injury, and even death. There have been numerous cases reported that have claimed human lives.
