Well, if you believe the Bible, then God made evil. "The way the world is" makes a little more sense when you come to terms with the fact that the universe does not know (or care) that you exist. You are the universe observing itself. Evolution has traditionally been spurred on by survival of the fittest, but only until relatively recently has that meant caring to find less harmful ways to achieve it. In 99.999999999999% of the life on Earth, worse than this is happening without thought. The Guinea worm does not possess a single thought about the pain they bring their hosts. At least when humans do it, there's some semblance of reason - however disagreeable that/those reason(s) might be. |
