This apparently happened in Arizona, self defense is different there (California is ridiculously strict and likely wouldn't have considered this justified)

They knew each other well. At this point, the defender already had an active restraining order on the attacker. He randomly showed up to the defenders home to start a confrontation. I guess he was losing his marbles and got kicked out of mental facility for assault. Started randomly accusing the defender of theft, so he showed up at his house. Defender also stated that he knew the attacker owned/carried some type of Sig Sauer pistol, moments before firing, he felt like the attacker was reaching for something like that.

Prosecutors decided just to dismiss this, so they released him and gave him his weapons back.
