A couple was shot dead by a group of about ten armed men as they left a condominium in the Maraponga neighborhood, in Fortaleza, Ceará state, Brazil, on Monday night (26). The crime was caught on the residential security camera.

The man was driving the car with the woman in the passenger seat. As he was leaving the condominium, the victims' vehicle was intercepted by another car, from which a suspect got out with a gun in his hand pointing at the couple.

Upon noticing the suspect approaching, the driver tried to flee, but ran over a motorcyclist who was arriving at the scene with a passenger. At that moment, other criminals appeared and shot dozens of times at the victims in the car. Witnesses reported hearing more than 50 shots during the execution of the couple.

During the action, the suspects removed the injured man from the vehicle and continued shooting until he stopped reacting. The group fled in cars and motorcycles, but moments later, a criminal returned and took something that was near the man's body.

The couple died at the scene. They have not been formally identified, but it is known that the woman was 22 years old. The motorcyclist and the passenger who were arriving at the condominium at the time of the attack managed to protect themselves and were not injured.

(Note: I have presumed antemortems of the couple, but I couldn't find their names. Although, the man's photo is almost certainly a mugshot, which would help out a little in explaining motive.)

It looked like everyone wanted to join in the "fun" and came running up to fire their own shots. It seems to me that if Brazil caught these people and executed them, it would be a deterrent to those who *wanted* to kill. That the shooters kill with abandon makes me think that Brazil is soft on crime, even with video footage.

Didn't all of these nosy fucks see the woman was still alive. I saw her take a breath. It's like these people are so numb to these killings, they're so apathetic. Was she a target or just with the wrong dude?
