I've known people who have killed other people and trust me, that regret is a stain in their eyes and souls that they cannot remove. They are always shifty-eyed, always assessing everybody else's threat level, always looking over their backs .

Years ago I was trying to figure out how to do this and found out after LOTS of considerations and calculations that the force field would require less energy and be more efficient if the projectiles were just deflected around the target instead of making them bounce off.

In the case of a soldier being attacked all projectiles would still be coming against the soldiers behind him with most of their lethal velocity still intact but it would be no problem if they were also wearing a shield device.

The amount of energy would still be quite substantial, I'm talking several thousand Terawatts of power to deflect non-magnetic and paramagnetic projectiles the size of a BB pellet at subsonic speeds
and the shielded area would still be about the cross section of said pellet, the shield device would require a trajectory detector to apply all the energy concentrated on the area about to be hit by the projectile, the shield would not be capable to protect all bodyareas at the same time, just at the point of impact due to the "small" energy used ~770,000 TW of power
