The mental health checks is a good idea but 1) how do you know who is mentally ill? There is no database with this info and 2) let's pretend there was a way to know this. How would it be enforced? You can't force someone into treatment unless it's court mandated and what branch of law enforcement or government is going to run with that?

People killing people has been happening since the beginning of time. Weaponry has provided the means to kill more, faster in the same encounter. I think the gun situation in the US (I'm an American) is FUBR. Am I saying do nothing? No, what I am saying is I have no fucking clue how to fix this.
