Former Professional Football Player Shot at a Party in Amsterdam
The 35-year-old former professional football player J. H, who was shot on Sunday in a business building in Amsterdam, The Netherlands died of his injuries, the police reported on Tuesday. Earlier on Monday, police erroneously released a message declaring his dead, but reported Monday evening that he was in hospital in a very critical condition.  He died of his injuries on Tuesday morning, police said. A suspect has also been arrested for the shooting. "Partly thanks to witness statements and a good description, the visor went to a suspect in Belgium", according to the police. The 34-year-old man was arrested near the Dutch border. He is detained in Belgium pending his surrender. The victim may have tried to calm a quarrel between people at a party in a company building. A police spokesperson previously said that that scenario is "very plausible". The detectives are now investigating that scenario further. |
