That fireman probably did this because he knew he was on a safety wire/rope.

Also - letting people who want to commit suicide just do it? What kind of fucked up world/country would that become?

1.380.000 attempted suicides in 2019.

Now imagine those number if rescue services would try to safe them...

Now If you really want to make sure you are offing yourself - chose your method (by chance one that doesn't involve other bystanders) and, depending on the country you live in, have some type of DNR or advance healthcare directive in your pocket or your hand that says you don't want any live saving treatments.
As I said, laws and regulations for those type of things vary from country to country, but something like this would make sure you don't end up as a vegetable.

Also - be a fucking organ donor (depending on the "method" though there might not be much to harvest anymore - but still...)
