I work on the west side. Lake & Cicero to be exact. So I see the ghetto almost every day.

Nobody should be happy in a shitty job, but it does not mean a dice game is a better income. But it’s something instead of walking around half naked, tripping over your feet as you dodge bullets.

You’re advocating that disadvantaged folks should not work cause it’s not good enough for their high standards and falling pants.

I advocate for personal responsibility and morals. No matter how shitty your community is, those qualities should be welcome.

Not advocating, simply saying we should be careful how we pass judgment. I grew up there, its alot different then passing by on my way to work, and I can tell you that 99 percent of them don't want to live like this.. You are judging all of them based off the one percent you see on DR, or hear about from Sean Hannity and Facebook posts. And that, my friend, is the type of ignorance and narrow mindedness that I advocate against. You would be surprised at how MOST of them are good people, with the bad apples scattered throughout. Just as I'm sure it's the same with your culture.

I have zero doubt that the vast majority living there are good people. Sadly, many look to their leaders for excuses instead of solutions.

And thus, we have the decades old problem of black on black violence. It will continue, likely get much worse, and the only solution will come within their own communities.

There are churches and several advocacy groups in cities trying to accomplish just this.

Painting everyone as universal victims only promotes weakness.

Thugs that end up dying on DR are an example of this. You can’t believe that they’d be worse off working a shitty job, do you?

Painting everyone as universal victims is very much a problem. But downplaying the plight as if its a choice they made to live like that is just as big of a problem.

Churches and advocacy groups are just bandages on a gushing gash. Im sure you heard of the expression involving teaching a man to fish? One side of our political system wants to just keep handing them all the fish they need, which is bullshit... they need to be taught to fish. But the other side screams "liberal" when funding the education to learn to fish is brought up, which is also bullshit. Education is key.

You're right when you say the solutions will come from their own communities, but who do you think is running the communities? The same folks from my point above. Now, if we really want them to handle their own communities, then that will surely bring up talk of segregationalism... and we can read almost any history book in America to see how that went....
