Definitely looks like way to large of an explosion to be from an RPG. Also, the amount of earth that was moved and the angle and velocity was all backwards towards them. Its very possible he flinched and pulled the trigger on the RPG as a reaction to the explosion but if you look close under slow motion the "fireball" actually originates from in from of the blast cone in the rear so the flame thats seen is most likely from the explosive shell detonating in front of them...

Either that, or a tank shell landed in front of them, and shrapnel hit the grenade whilst still in the launcher, trigging the grenade; either way, those guys are out of commission.
